Magneto’s purple M suit makes its statement across the chest: a large white emblem, framed by a sleeveless purple jumpsuit, long gloves and a sweeping cape. This adult costume follows Erik Lehnsherr’s look in X-Men '97, the 2024 animated series. At $62.99 across all offered sizes, the set brings together the jumpsuit, cape and gloves for a headmaster-era interpretation of Magneto.
The purple M leads back to Uncanny X-Men #200
This design first appeared on the cover of Uncanny X-Men #200, “The Trial of Magneto,” in 1985, when Magneto took over the Xavier School as headmaster. That history gives the outfit a particular identity: this is his heroic look, distinct from the classic red-and-purple villain armour with its helmet.
For a cosplay built around that chapter, let the white M carry the introduction. It runs down the chest and torso, so a front-facing photograph gives the design room to register. When arranging the cape for pictures, keep its folds from covering the emblem.
Three purple pieces frame the white emblem
The set is made of spandex and includes a sleeveless stretch jumpsuit with a printed white M, one pair of purple over-the-elbow opera gloves, and a floor-length purple cape with a draped, scarf-like neck. The long gloves extend the purple silhouette while leaving the upper arms visible.
A helmet, boots or shoe covers, and a wig are not included. Plan your own footwear before deciding how to arrange the cape near the floor. Adding a helmet is your choice; account for that extra piece separately when planning the finished outfit.
Read chest, height and shoulders together
With a stretch one-piece, selecting a letter from height alone leaves other columns unchecked. Compare chest, waist and hip alongside height, then review the shoulder figure. If your measurements point toward different rows, identify those differences before choosing. Here is the maker's size chart, in centimetres:
- S: Chest 91–97; waist 76–81; hip 89–94; shoulder 46; height 168–172.
- M: Chest 98–104; waist 84–89; hip 97–102; shoulder 48; height 173–177.
- L: Chest 107–112; waist 91–97; hip 104–109; shoulder 51; height 178–182.
- XL: Chest 114–119; waist 99–104; hip 112–117; shoulder 53; height 183–187.
- XXL: Chest 122–127; waist 107–112; hip 119–124; shoulder 55; height 188–192.
- XXXL: Chest 129–135; waist 114–119; hip 127–132; shoulder 57; height 192–197.
The XXL and XXXL height ranges both list 192 cm, as printed. At that shared endpoint, compare the remaining columns rather than treating height as the deciding factor.
Give the cape and opera gloves a convention plan
Before taking stairs, lift the floor-length cape clear of your feet; keep the trailing length away from escalator steps and edges. For meals or phone use, allow time to remove the opera gloves instead of making every small task part of the performance.
For Marvel group cosplay, line up a photo with Rogue, Storm or Gambit while keeping Magneto’s M visible between the cape folds. The same emblem-focused approach works for an X-Men '97 watch party, Halloween portrait or stage-show pose: face the camera, settle the neck drape, and give the white graphic a clear outline.
